There is so much physics involved in vortices. Conservation of angular momentum and fluid dynamics are some of the main principles. When a fluid starts to rotate, it creates a difference in pressure between the inside and outside of the rotating flow. This pressure difference causes the fluid to continue rotating, forming a vortex. The swirling motion of the fluid is sustained because of the conservation of angular momentum, which means that the total amount of rotational momentum in the system

First Experiment : If you pass a current through salt water in the presence of a magnetic field we obtain a vortex, it is the same principle as the homopolar motor.
