This morning (May 29, 2015) a huge calving occurred at 7:15am. Mendenhall Glacier has a giant blue gap where the ice fell off. The hole is the size of a 8-10 story building! Throughout the day shattered iceberg bits drifted across the lake as a half-circle mass. Small ice blows on the wind; big icebergs move by the current in Mendenhall Lake. Due to the rain, the lake and Nugget Falls Trail are flooded. More rain is expected tonight and tomorrow.
