A baby kekeno/NZ fur seal smuggled its way into a supply basket on a gas platform off the Taranaki coast and was lifted 40 metres above the water before being discovered. The gas facility did the right thing by calling us on our conservation hotline (on 0800 362 468) while some of the workers shepherded the seal into their tearoom where it was safe from hazards. A seal walks into a marine biologist’s house… but the marine biologist wasn’t home. 🦭This juvenile New Zealand fur seal was out exploring and curiosity got the best of him, apparently leading him to follow the family’s cat through the cat flap. 🐈‍⬛ Though it was a bit chaotic, everything turned out okay. ❤️ P.S.
