A large pod of harbor seals suddenly appears in the lagoon near my cabin in Kodiak, Alaska. There were about 40 seals and 6 Steller sea lions crammed in the small cove; perhaps to avoid the large pod of killer whales that had been hunting in the bay the day before. The killer whales didn’t linger and the sea lions eventually left as well, but the seals were still there a week later.
