One quick clarification: I said the neck isn’t always the correct place to check a pulse because it depends on the situation. The carotid pulse is excellent for quickly confirming whether someone has a heartbeat, especially in an unresponsive patient. But if you’re assessing an injured arm or leg, you need to check a pulse below the injury to determine whether that extremity is still receiving blood
