On November 20, 2023, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development announced the relaunch of HPD Online, the agency’s platform for tenants, owners, and advocates to access information about where they live.

HPD is headquartered in Lower Manhattan, and includes smaller branch offices in each of the city's five boroughs. Established in 1978 in the wake of Local Law 45 of 1976, the Department is the largest municipal developer of affordable housing in the United States.
