The Sharks also had issues on the power play Sunday, going 0-for-3 with the man advantage without a shot on net. Down 1-0 in the first period, the Sharks had a two-man advantage for 1:4, but a Macklin Celebrini shot from the point off the post was as close as San Jose came to scoring.

On the play, a faceoff in the Sharks’ zone got back to Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard, whose unblocked shot toward the net was redirected by Skinner’s skate past San Jose goalie Georgi Romanov at the 14:57 mark of the second period.

The Los Angeles Kings (40-23-9) host the San Jose Sharks (20-43-9) to close out the season series with their Northern California rival.

SAN JOSE -- Leon Draisaitl had an assist before leaving in the second period of the Edmonton Oilers' 3-2 win against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center on Thursday because of a lower-body injury. Draisaitl was playing in his third game since returning from an undisclosed injury that caused him to miss four games.

Jeff Skinner tipped in the tiebreaking goal late in the second period and the Edmonton Oilers overcame an injury to Leon Draisaitl and beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2.

Calvin Pickard backstopped Edmonton to a third straight win, as the Oilers gained two big points to keep pace in the Pacific Division race.

The Edmonton Oilers are looking to extend a three-game win streak with a victory against the Los Angeles Kings. Los Angeles has a 43-23-9 record overall and a 10-8-2 record in Pacific Division games.

No one is sure when Connor McDavid will return to the Oilers' lineup, but it won't be for Edmonton's Thursday road game against the San Jose Sharks.
