After ‘No Kings,’ protesters tear gassed at Portland ICE facility
The scene outside the ICE facility took a darker turn as federal agents deployed tear gas on the crowd around 4:30 p.m. and detained at least one person over the course of the next hour.
Following a peaceful "No Kings" rally and march through Portland, protests at the ICE facility continued as part of the nightly gatherings at the building.
Jimmy Kimmel, Robert De Niro, Glenn Close and Mark Ruffalo have spoken out in support of the No Kings protest.
The rallies are scheduled for Saturday, October 18, in various locations in metro Atlanta in defiance of Trump's "authoritarian power grabs."
Some three dozen protests were scheduled to be held across the Garden State. Demonstrations were planned in Atlantic City, Newark, Ocean City, Princeton, Rutherford, Teaneck and Wayne, as well as in Cape May Court House, Galloway Township, Glassboro, Pine Hill and Vineland.
