EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers clinched their Western Conference First Round series against the Los Angeles Kings with a 6-4 win in Game 6 at Rogers Place on Thursday, winning the final four games of the series after losing the first two. The Oilers have eliminated the Kings in the first round for four consecutive seasons.

The Kings haven’t won a Game 6 to stave off elimination since 2014. That’s when they beat San Jose in the first round to cap off a stunning reverse sweep after being down 3-0 in the series. They also beat the Anaheim Ducks in the second round after trailing 3-2. That championship year remains their last set of playoff series victories.

Trent Frederic had a goal and an assist, Connor Brown had a goal and two assists, while Adam Henrique, Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Darnell Nurse also scored for the Oilers.
