American Danielle Collins upset world No. 2 Iga Świątek, who has dominated the Italian Open recently, winning it three of the last four years as she has been almost invincible on clay.

ROME — Iga Świątek ’s struggles continue, at one of the last places anyone in tennis would have expected. Świątek, a master of clay-court tennis and defending champion at the Italian Open, lost to American Danielle Collins in the second round, falling 6-1, 7-5.

Iga Swiatek, however has had a terrible half of the year and will head in to the French Open without a single title to her name
