Southington High School was evacuated for a fire on Wednesday. The district said it is investigating if it was the result a dangerous social media trend. The Southington Fire Department said a laptop was on fire and thrown out of a second-story classroom window.

Students are filming themselves inserting items into the charging ports of their school Chromebooks in order to spark a fire.

School officials are asking families to speak with students about the potential safety hazard this "challenge" creates.
