The British and Irish Lions beat ACT Brumbies 36-24, but it was another disjointed display from the tourists here in Canberra.

Controversial mid-tour replacement Owen Farrell is in the reserves of the British and Irish Lions side playing an AUNZ Invitational XV in Adelaide on Saturday.

The Lonergan brothers will look to help the ACT Brumbies pull off another improbable win over the British & Irish Lions on Wednesday, 12 years after cheering from the terraces as the Super Rugby team stunned the touring side in Canberra.

The Lions slowly pulled clear with second-half tries from Garry Ringrose and Josh van der Flier, but the strongest line-up fielded by head coach Andy Farrell so far on tour were unconvincing with the series opener against Australia just 10 days away.

The British and Irish Lions outscored the ACT Brumbies five tries to four in Canberra in their fourth straight victory on Australian soil. In an at times excellent - and at other times troubling - performance, the tourists made their now customary slow start, conceding early to Brumbies back-row Tuaina Taii Tualima.

Ellis Genge, Dan Sheehan and Tadhg Furlong form a powerful front-row while Joe McCarthy partners Itoje at lock. Englishman Ollie Chessum has been moved to the blindside with Tom Curry at openside flanker and Jack Conan at No 8. The game is live on Sky Sports with kick-off at 11am.
