Boston Mayor Michelle Wu warned residents about a massive storm barreling towards Massachusetts on Sunday and said that a snow emergency and parking ban will be in effect starting at 2 p.m.

Blizzard warnings were issued Saturday for Boston, Connecticut, New York City, New Jersey and coastal communities along the East Coast as a late-winter storm set to arrive on Sunday threatened to make a mess of the start of a new week.

Predicted snowfall totals continued to rise overnight with Boston now expected to get 19 inches, with a high-end prediction of 32 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Southeastern Massachusetts expected to be hit the hardest with snow total predictions consistently over 20 inches.

Up to two feet of snow is possible in some Massachusetts communities.
