Condemned South Carolina inmate Brad Sigmon has chosen to die next month by a firing squad. He would be the first U.S. inmate shot to death in an execution in 15 years.

More than 140 middle school and high school students from the Topeka area are expected to be on hand for the annual Kansas History Day event on Saturday at Washburn University in Topeka.
