More heavy rain is set to batter parts of England and Wales on the back of two major storms this weekend. Eowyn and Herminia brought strong winds and downpours to the UK on Friday and Sunday. But some parts of the country are set for more disruptive weather. The Met Office has updated its weather warnings for today (January 27) and Tuesday.

A warning for periods of heavy rain that could cause some flooding of roads and properties was in place for the West Midlands and most of Wales until 11.59pm on Monday with the Met Office predicting 20mm to 40mm to fall quite widely and 50mm to 70mm on higher ground.

The Met Office has issued multiple yellow weather warnings as Storm Herminia, named by the Spanish meteorological office, batters the UK.

Amid the threat of 100mph winds at times, the Met Office is urging households to ensure bins, plant pots and garden furniture (bring inside or secure in place) are secure.

The Met Office recommends keeping essentials such as warm clothes, food, and water in cars due to the likelihood of travel delays.

A flurry of fresh weather warnings for wind and rain have been issued for Sunday after Storm Eowyn battered the British Isles with hurricane-force winds. Flights were cancelled, major rail routes closed and ferry services axed on Saturday after winds surpassing 100mph hit parts of Britain throughout Friday.
