Immigration and Customs Enforcement reversed guidance earlier this week to pause operations at certain worksites.

President Trump’s border czar Tom Homan said Thursday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would resume “worksite enforcement” operations to ensure employees at farms and hotels are legally residing in the United States.

People with criminal backgrounds will be a priority for immigration enforcement officials, the border czar said.

The Trump administration tried to condition transportation funding for states on their cooperation with immigration authorities.

The ruling came in a lawsuit filed by a group of Democratic state attorneys general who argued the administration was seeking to unlawfully hold federal funds hostage to coerce them into adhering to the Republican president's hardline immigration agenda.

Attorneys general from several states filed the lawsuit in May, saying the new so-called “Duffy Directive” put them in an impossible position.
