Travis and El Paso counties sue Texas AG Ken Paxton over rules they claim infringe on privacy and separation of powers.

Paxton had accused commissioners of violating the Texas Open Meetings Act by not adequately notifying the public of a vote on the security expense.

Travis County made the decision behind closed doors to use public funds to protect District Attorney José Garza after he received death threats. In the settlement, released Wednesday, the county says it didn't break the law.
