Bags don’t fly free with Southwest any longer. In March, Dallas-based Southwest Airlines announced a major change to its longstanding bags-fly-free policy: checked bags, for the most part, would no longer fly free.

Earlier this year, the airline announced plans to end its trademark “bags fly free” policy to help shore up earnings.

Last week, Southwest Airlines officially ended its longtime "bags fly free" policy as the airline began charging customers for checked bags on all flights. However, as the company implements this major change, CEO Bob Jordan explained how customers can still get free bags.
