The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 6:12 p.m. on Tuesday for snow until Wednesday at 5 a.m. for Franklin, Worcester, Middlesex, Essex, Hampshire, Hampden, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bristol and Plymouth counties.

While it's unlikely any Massachusetts community will see more than 30 inches of snow during the snowstorm, meteorologists say it's possible.

As Massachusetts and other parts of New England grapple with the aftermath of an intense snowstorm, VTrans stepped in to help. The agency sent over 30 pieces of equipment and 33 employees to its neighbor to the south Tuesday to aid with snow removal, according to Greg Smith, the agency’s district transportation administrator for the capital region.

Monday’s Blizzard of ’26 dumped more than 3 feet of snow in many portions of Rhode Island, and well over 30 inches in parts of Massachusetts. The National Weather Service has updated the latest snowfall totals since Monday night.

A "much lighter" snowfall is expected in Massachusetts on Wednesday, Feb. 25, according to the National Weather Service. The snow is expected to develop after midnight and last into at least mid-morning, before mixing with rain, NWS said. It may even fully change to rain at lower elevations.
