WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Friday put off ruling on a second Black majority congressional district in Louisiana, instead ordering new arguments in the fall.

Louisiana argued that it was caught in an impossible position: At first, a federal court ruled that the state had likely violated the Voting Rights Act by drawing only one majority Black district out of six.

The Supreme Court ordered further arguments over Louisiana's congressional map that created a second majority-Black district.
