The Arizona Diamondbacks placed second baseman Ketel Marte on the injured list on Saturday on account of a strained left hamstring. Marte suffered the ailment during Friday's game against the Washington Nationals,

Marte, 31, signed a six-year, $116.5 million contract extension with the D-Backs on Wednesday, meaning he is under contract through the 2031 season. Marte injured his hamstring on Friday while legging out a double during the first inning of Arizona's 6-4 win over the Washington Nationals.

Arizona second baseman Ketel Marte was removed from the Washington game in the top of the first inning Friday after suffering an apparent hamstring injury while running out a double. Marte doubled off the center field fence with one out but pulled up as he approached second base and was replaced by pinch-runner Garrett Hampson.
