Three convicted killers who are serving sentences at Salinas Valley State Prison in Central California are suspected of killing a fellow inmate during an attack Thursday morning.

It wasn't immediately clear what prompted Nathan Peru, 31, to go to the hospital or what led up to the deadly shooting.
