All of which is to say, I wasn’t surprised that both Nick Blaine (Max Minghella) and Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) die before the series’ finale as much as I was shook at the way it unfolded.

Episode No. 2,114 will be Cowlishaw’s last, though he’s not so much retiring as he is being retired by the network.
