Mich., said he will press forward and force a vote Wednesday to impeach President Donald Trump, defying his own party leaders who are desperately urging him to stand down.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and his leadership team believed they had successfully convinced one of their famously rogue members — Rep. Shri Thanedar — not to force the party into an untimely vote on impeaching President Donald Trump.

Thanedar is not the only Democrat who has signaled impeachment efforts against Trump. But his decision to go it almost alone, without backing from party leadership, comes as he faces his own political challenges at home, with several primary opponents looking to unseat him in his Detroit-area congressional district.
