The British Army has been told to hand back “looted” treasures from Ethiopia in a growing reparations row. After defeating an Ethiopian emperor during an 1868 expedition, regiments and corps plundered his fortress capital of Magdala.

Sir Robert Napier led the British army to victory at the highland fortress of Magdala, where Tewodros killed himself and the treasures he had assembled were looted.

Ethiopia may approach the Ministry of Defence for assistance in their campaign to reclaim the treasures plundered by the British Army in 1868.
