Loved ones shared memories of Resendiz, and a candlelight vigil was held to honor her and other young sailors.

A funeral service is being held for Resendiz at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brownsville, followed by military honors.

Angelina Petra Resendiz was found dead by NCIS on June 9 in Norfolk, Virginia, after going missing nearly two weeks earlier from Naval Station Norfolk.
