Alaska Airlines on Tuesday announced it was adding nonstop flights between Seattle and Rome next year, its first transatlantic route. The Italian capital was not previously served by an airport in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. It’s the third long-haul destination Alaska has added at its Seattle-Tacoma International Airport hub after Tokyo and Seoul.

Alaska Airlines will launch nonstop flights between Seattle and Rome next year, directly connecting the two cities for the first time, according to the airline.

Next spring, travelers will be able to fly nonstop from Seattle to Rome for the first time ever. Alaska Airlines announced the addition to its routes on Tuesday.
