Elon Musk suggested a third political party, which he’s floated as the “America Party,” will hold significant sway in the Senate and House under slim Republican margins, as he aspires to form a competing party after breaking with the GOP over President Donald Trump’s signature policy bill.

Musk would need to overcome many hurdles to establish a third party. Similar efforts, including the late billionaire Ross Perot’s, haven’t lasted.

Pointing his rockets at the “one big, beautiful bill” and its loyal lawmakers, Mr Musk threatened to blow up the two-party US system by doing what few have dared: launch one of his own. “If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day,” he wrote in a string of firebrand posts on Monday.
