Both teams entered undefeated in the SWAC East, and by the end, it was Jackson State who stood alone atop the division after a breathtaking 38–34 victory Saturday night at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.
No. 1 Jackson State defeated No. 2 Alabama State 38-34, with quarterback JaCobian Morgan throwing for five touchdowns and one interception, solidifying control of their lead in the SWAC East. In addition, they proved to everyone that Jackson State is the best HBCU football team in the country after holding off Alabama State.
The Crimson Tide are 10-0 at home under Kalen DeBoer but just 3-5 away from Bryant-Denny Stadium since the start of 2024. This will be the battle of Alabama QB and Heisman candidate Ty Simpson vs. Missouri's sleeper Heisman candidate in running back Ahmad Hardy.

Jackson State wins their Homecoming game against Alabama State in a late-game thriller, 38-34
It was an instant classic in Jackson on Saturday as the Jackson State Tigers defeated Alabama State in their Homecoming game that came down to the very last play, 38-34.
Alabama State University shut down campus operations Thursday morning because of a terroristic threat, the university said. ASU did not disclose the nature of the threat in a statement.
