DETROIT (AP) — Cam Talbot stopped 28 shots for his second shutout of the season as the Detroit Red Wings beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0 on Saturday night. Marco Kasper redirected J.T. Compher’s shot at 9:55 of the second period, and Michael Rasmussen scored an empty-netter in the final minute to clinch Detroit’s victory.
Talbot will patrol the home crease Monday versus the Kings, per Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site. Talbot recorded his second shutout of the campaign Saturday in a 2-0 win over the Lightning. The veteran netminder is rolling through eight appearances in January with a 7-1-0 record,
The Red Wings (23-21-5, 51 points) have won back-to-back games, both with Talbot in net. Talbot is 7-1-0 in his past eight starts. The one loss was a 5-1 setback at Tampa Bay Jan. 18 when he was pulled after two periods.
