The devastation in California continues as wildfires, fueled by strong winds and severe drought, sweep across communities, forcing millions to evacuate. In response, volunteers nationwide, including those from Georgia, are stepping in to assist. Among them is Marzetta Dennis, an American Red Cross volunteer from Georgia.
The American Red Cross South Florida Region sends six volunteers from our area to California to help fire victims pick up the pieces.
For more long-term aid, California Fire Foundation provides support to firefighters as well as their families. The organization also offers aid to victims of fire, scholarships to children of firefighters who have died and resources to underserved communities.

The Petaluma-based Guy Fieri Foundation brought its large disaster relief trailer and smoker to the Cal Fire base camp in Malibu on Jan. 12 and began dinner service the next day, according to foundation spokesperson Irika Slavin.
