Kenai elects new mayor
According to preliminary election results, Knackstedt was elected Kenai’s new mayor on Tuesday with 461 votes. Douthit received 326, and there were five write-ins. On Wednesday, Knackstedt thanked Douthit for the “clean, gentleman’s race that the voters observed.”
This year’s ballot features three propositions, four candidates running for three open seats on the Assembly and four candidates running for three seats on the school board. One write-in candidate for school board is not featured on the ballot.
