Previewing a snippet of a track titled “Superman,” Morgan Wallen noted that this song has been a long time coming. He’s always wanted to write a song for his son, Indigo Wilder; however, it took Wallen a long time to find the right words for the tune:

Lee Brice just released a new song called "Cry," and he stopped by the Taste of Country Nights studio to chat about it with Evan Paul. Brice recalled meeting a young Morgan Wallen at Tootsie's in Nashville, as Wallen was trying very hard to secure a record deal.
