The official signing of the peace agreement took place earlier Friday at the State Department and was witnessed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Senior Adviser for Africa Massad Boulos, whom Trump has largely credited with bringing about the deal.

Part of the peace deal involves creating the conditions to allow the hundreds of thousands of people displaced by the

President Trump claims credit for the outcome. The main question now is how the treaty will be implemented as fighting still rages in eastern Congo.
