The Mount Washington Observatory credited the spectacular view to a convenient lack of clouds around the summit and the mountain’s northern latitude.

Workers at Mount Washington Observatory got an incredible view of the northern lights late Monday night. Skies were clear amid a strong geomagnetic storm in the upper levels of the atmosphere, leading to the aurora borealis display.
