Elon Musk's Tesla enters the self-driving taxi game, an industry with big names like Waymo and Zoox in the U.S.

Elon Musk’s Robotaxi dream has become a reality with the launch of a pilot autonomous cab service in select areas of Austin, Texas. Currently, the service is invite-only and not yet open to the general public.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the company's "robotaxi launch" would begin Sunday afternoon with customers paying a flat fee of $4.20, as the electric vehicle maker looks to roll out the much-anticipated service and gain a foothold in the self-driving technology race.
