Microsoft has officially shut down Skype, the video-call service that helped launch a new era for online communication. The tech company said it will shift its video-conference services to Microsoft Teams, its flagship communication platform, according to a report in CNET, the tech media outlet.

After announcing in February that Skype would be discontinued, Microsoft has officially killed off the once-popular communications platform. Users accessing any of Skype’s services will now be encouraged to use Microsoft Teams instead.

"Goodbye Skype, hello Teams," the Skype website now reads. Those who still have an active subscription and Skype Credits can use the Skype Dial Pad to make calls to landlines and mobile numbers. Original Story 2/28: Farewell,
