Pete Alonso didn’t start Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds because of a right hand contusion, putting in jeopardy the New York Mets All-Star first baseman’s team record for consecutive games played.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza revealed that Alonso has a "right hand contusion" near the base of his thumb and he could be available off the bench against the Cincinnati Reds after X-rays were negative, per MLB.com's Anthony DiComo.
