CTA reports minor derailment of Yellow Line train at Howard
The CTA said Monday night there was a minor derailment of a Yellow Line train at the Howard Station near Evanston. About 7:40 p.m., the CTA and the Chicago Fire Department escorted riders from two trains to nearby platforms, according to CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski.
The northbound train was leaving the Howard station about 6:05 p.m. when it experienced a "minor derailment," according to CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski.
Shayla Smith, a passenger who had boarded a Purple Line train at Howard Station right before the incident, recalled hearing the crash. “I just heard like a horrible boom sound,” she said.
