The EU says the U.S. is resisting efforts to strike a trade deal and warned of countermeasures if no agreement is reached with U.S. by Aug. 1.

European trade ministers are hopeful for a negotiated trade deal after President Donald Trump announced 30% tariffs on the European Union.

The ministers met in Brussels following President Trump’s announcement of such hefty tariffs, which could have repercussions for governments, companies, and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic.
