Bird flu has forced farmers to slaughter millions of chickens a month, contributing (along with inflation) to the steep price of commercial eggs and resulting in some scantily stocked stores around the country. The scarcity and high prices are causing some to look for a backyard alternative.

FOX 13’s Regina Gonzalez has a look at how backyard chickens could help some homeowners as the costs of eggs continues to go up.

Eggs are a menu staple at Ants Pants Cafe in Graduate Hospital. Customers scarf them down in hashes with Italian sausage, in breakfast burritos with ground sirloin, and atop smoked salmon and hash browns with hollandaise sauce.
