Stephen Currys 42 points lift Warriors over Nuggets

Steph Curry did not look like the best three-point shooter on the floor Thursday during the Golden State Warriors’ game against the Denver Nuggets. That title belonged to Aaron Gordon.
His best shot came during pregame, though, and his daughter Riley helped him out.
Many of Curry's buckets came in the clutch ... He hit 10 of his 11 3-point attempts, part of a 17-for-21 shooting night. Gordon scored 50 points.
The Golden State Warriors have opened the 2025-26 NBA season with a 119-109 win on the road over the Los Angeles Lakers. Jimmy Butler led the Warriors with 31 points, 16 of which came from a perfect free-throw shooting performance, while Steph Curry added 23 points.
Butler is an outstanding free-throw shooter, a career 84.4% from the stripe. Thing is, Curry is the best shooter who ever lived and if you let him stand 15 feet from the basket unguarded, he doesn't really miss. Consider this a reminder never to make a bet you're not willing to pay off.
Curry didn't know about Butler's bet with Green until Tuesday night, but doesn't think Jimmy has a shot even after a 16-for-16 night
After the game Butler shared a little season-long bet he has going with teammate Draymond Green. That wager? That he can finish the year with a higher free-throw percentage than Curry, who led the league last year by making 93.3% of his freebies.
