The Tigers mounted a comeback against the Mariners in the day's opening game, keeping their season alive and forcing an ALDS Game 5 on Friday night. The Cubs staved off their own elimination with a Game 3 win over the rival Brewers, and the Phillies blew out the Dodgers to avoid an NLDS sweep.

The New York Yankees are done after being eliminated by the Toronto Blue Jays, who'll be heading to their first AL Championship Series since 2016.  Earlier in the day, the Detroit Tigers evened up their series with the Seattle Mariners after winning 9-3,

The Blue Jays looked down and out through six innings. But George Springer delivered with yet another clutch postseason home run to send Toronto to the World Series.

TORONTO – More than three decades after Joe Carter touched them all, George Springer gave the Toronto Blue Jays another home run for the ages, vaulting them into the World Series for the first time since they won their second consecutive championship in 1993.

All the way over on the west coast, the Mariners picked up a much-needed 3-2 win against the Tigers, with Jorge Polanco and Julio Rodríguez each playing hero. Polanco hit two solo home runs off of Detroit ace Tarik Skubal, then Rodríguez delivered the go-ahead double in the bottom of the eighth inning.
