Several TxTag customers have reported receiving text messages claiming to have a toll balance due or past due.

The SMS phishing scams, also known as smishing, have been occurring since April 2024 but have recently spiked, according to TxDOT.

The text claims you have an unpaid toll bill and tells you you have a certain amount of time to pay before a fee will be assessed to your account. It's not real!
