(The Center Square) – The war of words around political maps is heating up after Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker hosted Texas Democrats fleeing The Lone Star State to avoid voting on new Congressional boundaries.

Texas Democrats are hiding out in the Chicago area, skipping Monday's statehouse session on redistricting the Lone Star State's congressional map. Why it matters: The fight over fair elections has landed on Illinois' doorstep.

As Gov. JB Pritzker welcomed Texas Democrat state lawmakers who left to prevent the Republican-led general assembly from forcing through a redistricting map that would give the GOP five more seats, he said he has considered redrawing the Illinois map to help offset the gerrymandering gains,
