Spain has recovered more than 99% of its power following an unprecedented blackout that brought much of Spain and Portugal to a standstill, officials said.Spanish power distributor Red Electrica said the figure was reached by 6am on Tuesday.

A massive and unprecedented power outage on Monday hit large parts of Spain as well as Portugal. The blackout halted subway and railway trains, cut phone service and shut down traffic lights and ATMs for the millions of people who live across Europe's Iberian Peninsula.
