The Boston Red Sox placed right-handed starter Walker Buehler on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder bursitis Friday, one day after the team sent him from Toronto to Boston to undergo tests. Buehler had been scheduled to start Friday as the Red Sox opened a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox welcomed catcher Connor Wong back from the 10-day injured list Friday, but immediately put another key player on the 15-day IL in veteran starter Walker Buehler (right shoulder inflammation).

The Red Sox plan to place righty Walker Buehler on the 15-day injured list but aren't very concerned about his shoulder issue. In the meantime, a rookie will replace him in the starting rotation.
