Giolito signed a two-year, $38.5 million contract with the Red Sox in December 2023. But he missed the 2024 season after he underwent an internal brace procedure to repair the damaged elbow in spring training. He then began this season on the IL with a left hamstring strain that he suffered during his first spring training start.

Lucas Giolito allowed four hits in eight innings, Trevor Story and David Hamilton both homered, and the Boston Red Sox blanked the Baltimore Orioles 5-0.

His fourth pitch of the seventh inning yielded the third out, a routine ground ball to second base. David Hamilton fielded and threw it to Nathaniel Lowe at first, by which point Giolito was about to cross the foul line on the way to the visiting, third-base-side dugout at Camden Yards.
