To some, Barry Bonds is the greatest baseball player in the last 100 years, if not ever. Regardless of personal feelings, the announcement Thursday that the San Francisco Giants would build a statue of Bonds outside of Oracle Park was probably not a surprise.

We’re closing in on 20 years since Barry Bonds last took the field for the San Francisco Giants, leading many to wonder when, exactly, the team plans to honor the franchise icon with its ultimate tribute: a statue at Oracle Park.

During an appearance on 95.7 The Game's The Morning Roast, San Francisco Giants CEO Larry Baer was asked when Bonds will receive a statue. While no plan is imminent, Baer said that the project is "next up" and that Bonds' increased presence in recent seasons shows how close the day is.
