BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Hungary’s LGBTQ+ community is preparing for a face-off with the country’s autocratic government, and plans to push ahead with a march in the capital on Saturday despite a government ban and threats of legal repercussions.

Orban's right-wing party passed legislation in March that created a legal basis for police to ban LGBTQ marches.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said police will not "break up" Saturday's Budapest Pride march despite issuing a ban, but warned attendees and organisers about the legal consequences.
